CTC receives a third donation from Urban Forestry Organization

The Community Tree Council (CTC) has received a third $2,500 donation from Urban Forestry Organization Inc. to install large shade trees in Athens.

The previous two donations have been used to remove a dangerous tree from a low income property, plant trees at Athens First UMC, Sandy Creek Park, and Coile Middle School, and to improve the promotional materials of the CTC.

Urban Forestry Organization was started by a philanthropist in New York to support urban tree conservation projects across the United States. It has historically provided financial support to large national organizations like the National Arbor Day Foundation and American Forests.

The Organization took a special interest in the trees of Athens when one of their members was traveling through town on business.

If you have suggestions on locations open to the public that can be improved with large tree plantings, please contact  us at xxxxx.
