Speaker's Bureau

The Community Tree Council (CTC) has developed an illustrated slide (PowerPoint) and program on the values and beauty of trees in the Athens-Clarke County community. This talk is logically divided into four parts: (1) The trees in Athens-Clarke County; the tree legacy of Athens, showing many fine examples in downtown and suburban Athens-Clarke County, and issues of tree health such as insect and disease problems, and physical tree hazards including wind throw, ice and lightning damage; (2) The CTC: describes its mission and objectives; (3) Major CTC programs including: the Arbor Day School program, Friend of Trees Award, Champion Tree Program, Athens Downtown Tree Walk and the CTC website; (4) The significance of the CTC: provides current county-wide tree cover information regarding distribution, composition and condition, such that time sensitive change analysis can be utilized for monitoring tree cover change for use in community tree management decisions.

The program is available for presentation by a CTC council member to civic clubs, church groups, garden clubs or other organizations. Besides the basic slide show, several application specific presentations are in process, many of which can be tailor-made for a given presentation.
